India is counted among the big countries of the world. Its population is the second largest in the world. A large part of the total population of India still lives in villages, whose main means of livelihood are agriculture and animal husbandry. Agriculture is the basic basis of Indias economy. Whenever it comes to the rural life of India, an image unintentionally settles in the mind. People who lead a simple life, who are mostly farmers and cattle herders. Beautiful views of the fields swaying far and wide animals tied in the barn outside the houses of raw mud the elderly people sluggishing on the cot and the women of the village doing housework and the small haat market of the village.
The main characteristics of rural lifestyle are to live together, to help ones neighbor all the time, to be a companion of their happiness and sorrow. The environment of the villages remains very natural and free from pollution, where people have the privilege of consuming clean air and water. If we compare rural life and urban life, then it will look different from each other in all respects, on one hand the lifestyle of both is completely different. The means of entertainment, business etc. of the same people are also different. Usually people sit together in the village chaupal in the evening and entertain everyone with their movements, stories etc. The people of the village are more religious in nature. They have deep allegiance to great men and the character of God. In the main temple of the village or the temples built in the houses, there are regular worship lessons etc. People often organize religious programs of Jagran with drums and music. India's important festivals like Holi, Deepawali, the traditional way of Dussehra and the sight full of joy and gaiety which is seen in the village are difficult to get glimpse of in the city. Rural life has a deep attraction towards festivals. People join hands with each other in these festivals. The living culture of India can be seen in the village fairs. The person of the countryside is of simple and friendly nature. Her life and clothes are simple life far away from the world of fashion. The fulfillment of the tradition of the ideals and rites of Indian culture can be seen only in rural life. The qualities like respecting the elders and obeying their orders are more in the villagers. After independence, the rapid pace of development in urban life, villages have remained untouched by it. Even today the people of the village are finding it difficult to overcome the stigma of poverty. This is the reason that the large population of the village has to live below the poverty line, for them there is neither more employment opportunities nor accessible means of getting good education. Illiteracy and superstition are also one of the reasons for the backwardness of the villages. Due to which people even today consider modern lifestyle as a curse.
